I really loved this print of 'within the cottage' when I saw it as it depicts the life of the cottage owner so well, and displays all of the treasures that adorn the traditional Irish cottage. I really like how Saffron shows how the hearth was so central. The man seems to be so content, his dogs at his feet by the fire, the clothing drying, the typical cottage articles on the mantlepiece and walls.Â
