Meet Micín, our much-loved woolly friend with the heart of a sheep farmer and the style of a man who knows his way around a good story. We’ve been working closely with Jeremy of O’Connell Designs since January to bring Micín to life, and the moment he arrived, we knew he was something special.
At first, he was charming ~ but missing a little something. Then it came to me: a flat cap, just like the one my grandfather always wore. And just like that, Micín became himself. Proud, warm-hearted, and full of personality.
He’s named after a sheep farmer I once knew, and he reminds me of the kind of neighbour you’d meet along a quiet Kerry road ~ cap on, sheepdog at his heel, with a quick wave and a smile that says he knows every hill and hedgerow for miles.
Micín has already made friends with many of our MyIrelandBox members, who met him during our September journey through places like Ballyvourney, Cúl Aodha, Top of Coom, Kenmare, and the wild beauty of Derrynane. He’s been known to bring a grin to anyone who sees him perched on a windowsill or settled by the fire.
