This was a very special booklet. We brought all of our members on a walk up the little country road and right into Peggy’s cottage, where we sat and ate Ginger Cake and Apple Cake (both family recipes that we shared in the booklet) and Peggy told us all about the ancient traditions in Ireland during the month of May. We then walked past fields of baby lambs and sheep up to Katie’s Grandfather’s farm where we visited the ancient standing stones and learned that, to the ancient Celts, winter feasts and gatherings were demonstrations of confidence in the future. In the darkest days and nights of the year they celebrated sunlight to come, thousands of years ago, right at these standing stones. Also learn about the May 2022 makers.
Kate's Mars Bar Buns - We drove from Dingle to Dublin last summer and, as always, made the necessary stop at Avoca Handweavers for a food haul! We are talking scones, chutney, their gourmet pre-made meals and the most divine of all - their Mars Bar Buns. Sine then, my daughter Kate and I have made the Mars Bar Buns at home, and Kate thought that you would absolutley love them as much as we do in our family as a treat.
