Brigid of Kildare, now recognised as Ireland’s new co-patron saint alongside St. Patrick, holds a deeply special place in our culture. She’s a symbol of light, healing, protection, and feminine strength, honoured for her kindness, connection to the land, and the sacred threshold between the old and new seasons.
For generations, a St. Brigid’s Cross was placed in Irish homes, often above the doorway or near the hearth, to offer blessings and protection. Families would weave them on the eve of her feast day, February 1st, welcoming the first light of spring with hope in their hearts.
Each of these crosses has been carefully handmade by Saille Baskets using Irish-grown willow, making every piece unique and full of natural character. Over time, the willow will gently age, deepening in colour and telling its own quiet story. No two are exactly alike, just as no two homes are the same.
